My name is Pete Sloan, I live in Medina TN and I've been making knives since 2012. I've always been a collector and wanted to learn the process. I love the creative aspect of the design and build. I started making knives with just a few tools and recycled steel. My style has evolved through the years. In the beginning it was just my take on favorite blade shapes with original handles designs I felt were ergonomic. Now I'd say my style is very fluid, I like for the handle to be comfortable in the hand while aesthetically flowing with the blade. I have two very different builds styles between my full tang and stick tang designs. In full tang I love to build ring knives I find them easy to deploy and very functional to use. For my stick tang builds I like the fighter style blades, but make a ton of different design's. When I first got started there weren't very many specific makers that I followed but as my interest evolved I gravitated to makers whose style I found appealing. The most influential knife maker for me has been Spencer Aplin of STA custom knives who took me in as his student. He and I have been friends for a long time and he helped me to grow in my craft substantially.
